About Matt

Matt Barnett launched his career in the liquor industry at the tender age of 18 in the beautiful-bohemian Byron Bay of northern NSW.
He soon relocated to the epicurean-Melbourne, to pursue the vibrant lifestyle and booming bar and restaurant scene that the city was becoming globally renowned for. He honed his skills in the craft of the cocktail at several leading cocktail bars around the city and managed the highly awarded Botanical Hotel bar in South Yarra. In 2007, Matt joined the ranks at Suntory where he travelled extensively throughout Australia promoting the premium spirits portfolio.

career highlights

Matt is an accomplished drink stylists and cocktail creator, he has judged at many cocktail competitions nationally and internationally and has travelled to over 30 distilleries around the globe to immerse himself in the mysterious alchemy behind many global brands.
Matt has led many product launches for premium liqueurs and whisky brands in Australia and In 2014, he played a pivotal role in the launch of Suntory Japanese Whisky into the Australian market, currently the market leader for Japanese Whisky in Australia.
Matt now brings his wealth of experience and unquenchable passion for the spirits industry to the whisky powerhouse, Beam Suntory as the Premium Spirits Ambassador.
