The 1986 The Book of Cocktails provides a modern take on Thomas' 1876 recipe for this long forgotten drink.
The “Original Collins” Recipe
- 2 oz. Bols Genever
- 1 oz. Fresh Lemon juice
- ½ oz. Sugar Syrup
- Soda water
How to make a “Original Collins”
Step 1: Pour all ingredients, except soda water, in a Boston Shaker.
Step 2: Shake these ingredients with cubed ice.
Step 3: Strain in a pre-chilled collins glass over cubed ice.
Step 4: Top up with Soda water
Step 5: Garnish with a lemon wedge
